Who is it for?

Bucknell Maths is suitable for any child between the ages of 5 and 11, that is School years 1 to 6. It provides the vital practice that children need to support the work they are doing in school. As most teachers will readily admit, the amount of time available during school hours for sustained practice of every mathematical topic is limited, and although homework can address this to some extent, there is nevertheless a substantial gap. This is where Bucknell Maths can really make a difference. It provides unlimited practice of all the key mathematical concepts that your child will need to cover. It is entirely consistent with the Primary Framework for Mathematics and has been developed with the help and advice of practising teachers and educational consultants.

Your tutor can provide practice for children where Maths is not necessarily their best subject, or push able young mathematicians to press even further ahead. You can ask your tutor to provide work in areas where you or your child feel extra practice is needed, to revise for upcoming exams or to prepare for entry to your child's next school.

Most parents find that using Bucknell Maths for just five to ten minutes every day makes a substantial difference! Children enjoy doing Bucknell Maths and in fact it is probably better to stop them from doing any more than ten minutes in a session; they should leave wanting to do a bit more!

Some children just naturally need a bit of extra motivation. In Bucknell Maths, the points and rewards system (where you the parents give a pre-defined reward for achieving a certain number of points) and the stars sheets (where children use stickers or colour in stars, to receive a reward for completed sheets), will provide an added interest to the maths sessions. Your tutor will also award bronze, silver and gold certificates for effort and results. And of course there will be copious praise and encouragement from you when they do their work!
